MTV VMAs: Show is better sans host, says former *NSYNCer
MTV threw audiences for somewhat of a loop this year when the network decided at the last minute that the telecast go sans an outrageous host.
J.C. Chasez, former N’SYNC band member and current judge on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” has been to a fair share of VMAs since his boy-band days. And on the black carpet at Sunday’s event, he said he thought the network made a smart move in putting together a show without its usual emcee.
“It’s a new approach, and I think it might be great,” said Chasez, who estimated he had been to 10 VMA ceremonies. “What I find interesting is — essentially, it’s a music show, so I don’t know how many comedians we need telling jokes, anyway. So it might be great to just get to your favorite artist, get to the music, get to the award.”
