BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Pop singer Lance Bass plans to visit Alabama May 8-10 to help with tornado relief efforts.
Bass, 31, is a Mississippi native best known for his years with the boy band ‘N Sync. He’s also a songwriter, producer and author.
Bass intends to join volunteers handing out supplies in Tuscaloosa and the Birmingham area, according to publicist Jaime Primak Sullivan. The singer is hoping to lift the spirits of tornado victims, rally more support for the cause and “get his hands dirty,” Sullivan said.
Bass has been involved with several charities throughout his career, raising money for families affected by Hurricane Katrina and helping low-income children with health care  through the Lance Bass Foundation.
One of Bass’ causes is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. He’s also supported environmental groups, animal rescue organizations and special education.
