The top bidder on Lance’s leftover breakfast is 19-year-old Kathy Summers, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, who will pay $1,025 for what her disapproving mom is calling, “a dried up piece of toast.” Summers told MTV News on Monday that she plans to dry-freeze the French toast and keep the ‘NSYNC preserved-for-posterity breakfast in her bedroom. When asked why she spent so much bread for, well, old bread, Kathy replied, “I just wanted a piece of them.” ‘NSYNC management has offered Kathy tickets to see the guys perform in either Minnesota or Illinois as the group’s special guest. Her $1,025 bid, plus a matching donation from New York radio’s Z100 (which auctioned off the old bread), will be donated to ‘NSYNC’s favorite charity.

After doing their publicity duties, the ‘NSYNCers headed to a midtown Manhattan hot spot on Tuesday night to celebrate the album’s release. Luther Vandross, TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes (who appears on the album), supermodel-turned-actress Rachel Hunter, and a throng of clowns and mimes were among those in attendance as the group rang in the arrival of “No Strings Attached.”

21 –’NSYNC Hopes Home Video On The Way: Free and clear of their recent legal woes, the men of ‘NSYNC are delivering a new album to stores this week and hope that another long-in-the-works project will soon arrive as well. “We’re actually doing a home video now,” the group’s Lance Bass told MTV over the weekend. “We’re taking some footage that we shot from when we first got together, and it’s very funny.” “It’s not just always on stage and big and huge,” ‘NSYNC’s J.C. Chasez added. “It’s like chillin’ at home, being normal.” The group’s Joey Fatone noted, “It’s everything from traveling to toboggan rides to….” “Our first gigs,” Justin Timberlake concluded. 29 – ‘NSYNC Shatters Sales Record: When SoundScan sales figures were released on Wednesday, the boy band cemented its full-blown phenom status as the group sold a whopping 2.4 million copies of its “No Strings Attached” album in just one week in stores. The mark sets a new record for best one-week sales and more than doubles the previous record set by the Backstreet Boys’ “Millennium,” which sold 1.1 3 million its first week out in May 1999. ‘NSYNC’s monster sales figures are also almost ten times greater than that of the number two record album in the country, Santana’s “Supernatural,” which sold 265,000 copies last week. And for even more perspective, ponder this: “No Strings Attached” sold more copies last week than the rest of the “Billboard” top 20 combined.

31 – NSA debuts at #1 on Billboard charts with first week sales of 2.4 million
