*NSYNC Timeline- June 2001
Summer 2001 – Chris, JC and Lance go on a whitewater rafting trip on the Arkansas River in Colorado (with some fans?)
From Ted Casablanca: Joey Fatone, from ‘N Sync, consuming some Broadway cul-chuh at The Music Man (starring sorta-yummy Eric McCormack). InWhySee. J.F. was wardrobed in a weird ensemble of sparkles, odd colors and BeDazzler damage. Either he came straight from a band dress rehearsal or needs a serious closet fumigation. When a throng of teenybopping babes gathered outside the stage door, Joey and his big-haired sister-type companion fled to an alternate exit and hopped into a limo. The goils saw him jump in the ride, but hardly any squealed for an autograph.

01 – Worldpop reports Mattel has produced three special Barbies decked out in dodgy clothing and each carrying an ‘I Love ‘N Sync’ banner.
01 – The New York Daily News reports Britney and Justin skipped out on a $600 tab at the club Float in New York on Friday, according to a source, who also added the two “were all over each other”. Joey ended up paying for part of the bill but said, “I didn’t drink all the drinks.”
01 – The Village Voice’s Michael Musto ran a slew of blind items last Friday with one asking, “What male singer likes to have that female singer finger his a**, proof that he must be straight, right?” The item prompted one on the E! Online gossip board to guess Justin and Britney.
02 – The New York Post reports Britney and Justin were spotted taking in a 10:15 showing of “Moulin Rouge” at the Ziegfeld with two beefy bodyguards, as the power couple griped about having to make do with “general seating.”
02/03 – Britney and Justin were in Memphis over the weekend
03 – Walter Scott of Parade talked about Joey’s out-of-wedlock baby today saying, “The 24 year old pop star agreed to support Brianna, his daughter by actress Kelly Baldwin, 23, but they have no plans to wed. We’d guess Joey isn’t ready to settle down, since he was seen dirty-dancing with lady wrestler Chyna, 30, at an LA club.”
03-05 – PopOdyssey concerts at Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ, with opening acts: BBMak, Christina Milian, Dream, Meredith Edwards.
05 – Rosie show, performed Pop, and talked briefly to Rosie. Lance and Justin’s mother were in attendance. Rosie also previewed the cover of Celebrity
05 – *NSYNC is scheduled to perform in New York at the June 5 launch of the Candie’s Foundation, which aims to lower the rate of pregnancy among U.S. teenagers by raising awareness about its consequences. The New York Daily News reports *NSYNC disappointed those at Roseland as the last act of a benefit concert for the Candie’s Foundation since the guys only sang one song following a performance earlier that evening at Giants Stadium. Meredith there with Lance. Though they claimed they were tired, the band immediately left to hang out at Spa.
06 – Worldpop reports Moby attended the *NSYNC show at Giants Stadium, New Jersey and was actually impressed saying, “I went for the same reason my father went to see the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1964 to see the teen phenomenon up close, and what a phenomenon it was. I have to say the concert was one of the most technically impressive I have ever seen. The boys are smart and funny. I was impressed.”
07 – Entertainment Tonight talked about *NSYNC from their Seventeen cover shoot.
07 – Popbitch.com reports on the *NSYNC tour, the boys travel with individual golf carts and tanning beds. Transporting these items takes two 18-wheel trucks.

10 – PopOdyssey concert at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Orchard Park, NY, with opening acts: BBMak, Christina Milian, Dream, Meredith Edwards.
12 – Cinergy Field damaged from Nsync concert: A large portion of the outfield was torn up where a crane was used to build the boy band ‘NSync’s stage for its Friday night concert, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The newspaper reported that approximately $40,000 worth of damage was caused. Concert promoter SFX will get the bill. Head groundskeeper Doug Gallant told the newspaper that excessive rain last week left the turf vulnerable to the 96,000-pound crane brought in to assemble the stage. Pictures taken Tuesday morning showed that much of right-center field was torn up, in front of the bullpens. A rectangular-shaped portion behind second base was gone, as well as a chunk in deep right field. A strip of grass from first base to the outfield wall will need to be replaced.

14 – Radio station KEGL in Dallas “joked” that Britney and Justin died in a car accident Tuesday night, setting off an international flurry of rumors.
14 – Sisqo talked to MTV.com about touring with *NSYNC and his thoughts on the group saying, “*NSYNC, in my personal opinion, is the best singing group. I know you have your rock groups, your this group, your that group, but as far as singing groups, *NSYNC shuts them down. They [are] the best, period. Nobody can out-dance them, out-sing them. Their image is tight.”

16 – *NSYNC gave the clothes worn for the cover of YM to All Star Charity to auction off.
16 – Jive Records is considering suing Kramer and Twitch following the shock jock’s rumor that Britney and Justin had been involved in a fatal car crash.

17 – A blistering article on the Backstreet Boys and teen oriented pop in general is featured at Salon.com, where the author claims the members of *NSYNC split $1.4 million per show during their summer stadium tour that has seen light ticket sales in some cities.
19 – Lance talked to Launch.com about the Justin and Britney fatal car crash rumors started by Kramer and Twitch, saying “He had family members who really thought it was true because they saw it on CNN. They’re all just, like, devastated. His mom’s calling. I mean, it’s just crazy before we can have time to relay the message that: ‘It’s not true. We’re on tour over in the East Coast.’”

20 – The Dallas Morning News reports KEGL-FM DJ’s Kramer & Twitch have been fired following the Britney and Justin fatal car accident story the two made up. It apparently was the final straw in a string of controversial stunts pulled by the pair

21 – The Chicago Sun Time’s Bill Zwecker reports *NSYNC were spotted clubbing all over Chicago over the weekend, where Britney also came to town to spend time with Justin. He adds there was a ‘testy scene’ between Justin and a couple of bandmates over a woman they were vying for at the nightclub Kustom.
21 – E! Online’s Ted Casablanca reports Justin and JC were spotted rushing out of a showing of Swordfish at the Riverview Plaza movie theater in Philadelphia. As well, Justin and Joey were spotted at Fluid in Philly

22 – The Toronto Sun’s Jane Stevenson talked to Justin about the false report that had him in a coma and Britney dead after a car accident. Justin says “I know the first thing I did was call Britney because I was, like, ‘Well maybe it got twisted, maybe something did happen to her.’”
23 – Minneapolis concert, after party at Tropix
24 – PopOdyssey concert at Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome, Minneapolis, MN, with opening acts: BBMak, Eden’s Crush, Meredith Edwards.
24 – US Weekly reports Justin was spotted in Boston introducing his mother Lynn to Yankee players Derek Jeter, Tino Martinez, and Bernie Williams at Whiskey Park.
26 – PopOdyssey concert at Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI, with opening acts: BBMak, Eden’s Crush, Meredith Edwards.
26 – *NSYNC will make history by gracing five different covers of Rolling Stone, one for each member of the band.
26 – The Sun’s Dominic Mohan reports Beyonce of Destiny’s Child has admitted to locking lips with Justin BEFORE he started dating Britney. Beyonce admitted, “He’s adorable – I am a big fan. He’s a good kisser, too. don’t get the wrong idea. It was once at a party. He’s doing his thing with Britney now.”
27 – Worldpop reports *NSYNC’s current PopOdyssey tour has proved a smash hit, while the Backstreet Boys are struggling to sell out dates on their own Black & Blue tour.
27 – Worldpop reports Justin Timberlake has been going to local gyms during *NSYNC’s PopOdyssey tour to weight train, leading some to believe he’s prepping himself for the Challenge for the Children charity event which will have a basketball game and Sumo wrestling.
28 – The Bloodhound Gang’s Jimmy Pop talked to MTV.com about *NSYNC appearing on their next album saying, “They’re cool with it; we just need to make sure their people are cool with it.”
29-30 – PopOdyssey concerts at Comerica Park, Detroit, MI, with opening acts: BBMak, Eden’s Crush, Meredith Edwards.
29 – Joey tells MTVasia.com that *NSYNC has no plans on putting down the Backstreet Boys saying, “It’s a friendly competition. They’re out doing their job and we’re out doing ours. It’s like we timed it so perfectly, we released No Strings Attached and went out with one tour, the rumors of a rivalry started to fade and then Backstreet released Black & Blue and it gave them time to shine.”
29 – JC tells J-14 he never washes his socks or underwear, “I wear them once and throw them out. When you’re on the road, you don’t want to mix… I’m just so used to throwing them out that I wouldn’t even think of washing them.”
30 – Joey’s father and his new group, the Not So Boy Band (NSB2), has been added to eight dates of *NSYNC’s current tour.
30 – NME.com profiled Celebrity track by track and praised it heavily concluding, “it’s not too much of an overstatement to say that ‘Celebrity’ could very easily be one of the most exciting, futuristic pop albums ever made.”
