*NSYNC Timeline- April 2001
01 – The New York Daily News reports *NSYNC is scheduled to perform along with Faith Hill, Rod Stewart, and Marc Anthony at the Family Celebration, where former President Bill Clinton will pick up a Spirit of Life Award, which salutes him as an advocate for children. The New York Daily News reveals Britney was being ‘Bratney’ to her fans at the Family Celebration Sunday, refusing to sign autographs for anybody except Sugar Ray Leonard, as Justin graciously signed autographs and allowed pictures to be taken by anyone with a camera. Rude Britney also was reportedly talking loudly at her table during a musical performance by Ray Charles.
02 – *NSYNC was the lead story of Access Hollywood as they followed the group for the premiere of their IMAX movie and the second annual Family Celebration fund-raiser.
04 – Famous Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz commented on Danielle McGruire’s lawsuit against Justin Timberlake to Spin magazine saying, “These guards think they’re the Gestapo. They have no right beyond immediate self-defense. I’d settle that one and fire the security guard.”
05 – Marionettes of the group, like those featured in their “It’s Gonna Be Me” video, are for sale beginning today at www.nsyncdirect.com. Each $300 puppet is two feet high, weighs four pounds and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the band member depicted. Only 440 marionettes are available. A portion of the proceeds will go to ‘NSYNC’s charity, Challenge for the Children.
09 – Teen People’s 25 Hottest Stars Under 25 special on MTV
10 – The New York Post’s Liz Smith reports Justin received a seven-figure contract to write his first novel, Crossover Dribble. The book should be out spring 2002.
11 – Lance talked about *NSYNC’s upcoming album Celebrity during a Much Music appearance where he revealed the first single release is likely to be an up tempo number called Dirtypop
11 – Blockbuster Awards, win Favorite CD, Favorite Single (BBB), and Favorite Pop Group. Nominated as Favorite Group, Favorite Single (Bye Bye Bye, Internet Only), Favorite Group – Pop (Internet Only), and Favorite CD (NSA). Timberlake, Kirkpatrick and Chasez attended the awards show without Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, who are in Toronto shooting the film “On the L.” Chris Kirkpatrick told MTV News’ Chris Connelly at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards that they are playing songs off the new album before it is released because, “It’s kind of like we’re being Napster on the road.” “We hope that everyone’s not sick of us,” Justin Timberlake said. “Because I’m sick of us,” Kirkpatrick said.
11 – In other ‘NSYNC news, Timberlake said he recently met with Michael Jackson to discuss a possible collaboration. “I had a couple meetings with the man himself, and he’s an extraordinary artist. He kicked me out of the meeting ’cause I wouldn’t stop asking for autographs,” Timberlake joked. “So I don’t know how far it’s going to go.”
13 – JC was issued a ticket for operating a vehicle with an expired temporary tag (in Florida) (Expired temp tag = new car?)
14 – MTVasia.com reports Justin was spotted arriving at Jackson’s famous Neverland Valley ranch recently (this time minus Britney) to discuss a collaboration. Justin later confirmed the meeting with MTV
14 – TRL @ Your House cohosted by satellite from Orlando, and judged lip-synchers who sang clips from various *NSYNC songs.
16 – Michael Jackson tribute concert in September announced, with Nsync to perform with the Jacksons “on at least one song.”
17 – Joey and Lance in Chicago at the Cubs game at Wrigley field, filming scenes for On The Line. They also sang the 7th inning stretch
18 – Allpop reports on Lance and Joey’s short stay in Toronto to film On The L, as now the filming is happening in Chicago.
18 – Thanks Rick. “Brach’s candy company introduces *NSYNC Hot Hits, a brand new fruit snake. The candy comes in the shapes of musical notes, the *NSYNC logo, and juice-filled hearts, each sporting one of the group members names.”
18 – On Conan O’Brien’s birthday show Carson Daly gave him an Nsync doll
19 – *NSYNC recently were in Los Angeles to do a cover shoot for Rolling Stone as the band will appear in the magazine when Celebrity is released late June.
20 – Jane magazine reports *NSYNC’s price for a personal appearance is at a hefty $1 million.
21 – The Star reports *NSYNC gave free tickets to 10 high-school girls who had bought fake tickets to their last show to a Beverly Hills charity event the band performed in. Celebs were shelling out $10-25 thousand for tables at the show.
21 – Special appearance on Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards. *NSYNC nominated for Favorite Singing Group and Favorite Song (Bye Bye Bye)
21/22? – Worldpop reports Joey recently become a father as his long time girlfriend gave birth to daughter Brianna over the weekend.
