Joey Fatone Eliminated in Week 2 of Dancing with the Stars
After surviving being in (fake) jeopardy in week one when Pamela Anderson was sent packing, Joey Fatone’s time on Dancing with the Stars came to an end on October 2.
He and Kym Johnson fell into the bottom two with Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower. Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerikovski rounded out the teams “in jeopardy.” The elimination would have been shocking had it been any one of the stars – Kelly and Helio both won their seasons, while Joey came in second and was an all-around entertainer.
Here’s a look back at the two short weeks Team Fat One graced our Monday and Tuesday nights.
Joey and Kym were the first contestants to dance this season, taking on a technical Cha Cha Cha with a Michael Jackson flair to the song “P.Y.T.” The pair received a 20.5 for their routine and – being the first couple to dance – were told that this season would be much harder than any before. Dances and moves normally reserved for the finals would be on display each week.
Joey and Kym danced a Charlie Chaplin inspired Quickstep. Always the entertainer, his dance told story from beginning to end. The rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” was an interesting choice for both the Quickstep and the era, but somehow Joey and Kym made it work. The pair earned a 22.5 for their dance, tying with former champions Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough when combined with the viewer votes and the pair were sent packing last night.
Don’t worry, Joey was OK with the decision saying that as long as people said he was fun and entertaining he did his job. While his time on the show was short, we loved seeing Joey and Kym dance once again into our hearts. The pair should be back for the semi-finals when all of the contestants dance again. And if you’re looking for a new All-Star to support, Joey has thrown his support behind Drew Lachey, Sabrina Bryan and Apolo Anton Ohno.
